Quick review of the iPad 2

I'm the owner of the original iPad; from day 1. So when the iPad 2 was announced I was excited to upgrade.

On the day of the launch I wasn’t crazy enough to line up over night outside a store, I went to the local Dick Smith 1 hour before the 5pm release time.  At 5:20 walked out of the store with a new 16GB WIFI iPad 2 with a Smart cover.

After syncing the device to my PC and getting it all setup, I started using it. There is no usability differences between the two as they use the same Apple iOS version. The physical difference is very minor. The iPad 2 is quicker to open apps, and as new apps are created to take advantage of the faster processor and graphics I think the speed difference will be more noticeable. The front facing camera is good for Facetime and Skype but thats about it! The rear facing camera is only 1 megapixel so don't expect much from it.

There aren't many differences between the iPad and iPad 2. The differences are:
Faster processor - Apple's dual core A5 chip
Thinner design
Lighter weight
Facetime and HD Video
Front and rear facing camera
Video mirroring up to 1080 (adapter required)

Apple also released a completely new product for the iPad 2, which is the iPad Smart Cover. The iPad wakes up when the cover is opened and goes to sleep when it's closed. The cover uses magnets which are located in the smart cover and the iPad 2.
My advice for any iPad owner is not to bother with the upgrade at this point. But I believe that once the new iOS 5 is released, the iPad 2 will possibly gain more features that won’t be available in the original iPad, which then makes upgrading more appealing.

I use the device on a daily bases and think its great for business and fun. Its not the perfect device for all PC applications, but does most tasks very well.

If you are interested in an iPad and would like some more advice, let me know.
